As a perioperative Nurse, you will be responsible for ensuring the provision of quality assured decontamination and sterilization services of medical devices for the use on patients in the clinical areas, also responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, direct and indirect, patient-family centered care through the continuum of perioperative care to include outpatient surgery unit, perioperative unit, operating room, post-anesthesia care unit, sterile processing department, and anesthesia services.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality, empathetic nursing care and patient support.
Conduct preoperative assessments and coordinate patient care plans.
Ensure the availability and functionality of surgical equipment and supplies.
Maintain aseptic techniques and enforce infection control measures.
Assist in surgical procedures and administer medications as required.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and clinical protocols.
Support staff training and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Manage inventory, sterilization, and proper documentation of instruments.
Collaborate with surgical teams and other healthcare professionals.
Maintain accurate records and report on perioperative services.
Qualifications
Minimum academic qualification of a Registered Nurse Certificate
Must possess the Post Basic Perioperative Nursing Certificate
1 year of relevant work experience in the healthcare sector
Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria and current licensure
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, along with strong interpersonal and people management abilities
Demonstrates a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Familiarity with the Nurse Practice Act and protocols for safety and injection control practices
