- The Maintenance Manager will oversee the maintenance operations of the factory to ensure optimal performance of all machinery, equipment, and infrastructure.
- The role involves managing a team of technicians and support staff, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and implementing proactive and reactive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance Planning and Execution
- Develop, implement, and oversee preventive maintenance schedules for all machinery and equipment.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnosing issues, and coordinating quick repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
Team Management
- Supervise and lead the maintenance team, including training, and evaluating team members.
- Assign tasks and ensure proper delegation to achieve maintenance goals effectively.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
Operational Efficiency
- Monitor and analyse equipment performance to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
- Coordinate with production managers to prioritize maintenance tasks based on production schedules and needs.
- Ensure spare parts inventory is maintained at optimal levels to avoid production disruptions.
Safety and Compliance
- Enforce adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations within the maintenance department.
- Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and equipment inspections.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, government regulations, and company policies.
Budget Management
- Prepare and manage the maintenance department’s budget, including costs for repairs, spare parts, and labour.
- Evaluate and approve purchase requests for equipment and maintenance supplies.
- Seek cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or safety.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in maintenance management, preferably in a plastic manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of plastic processing machinery (e.g., injection molding, extrusion) and auxiliary equipment.
- Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is an advantage.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulatory requirements in manufacturing.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
