Job Summary
- The position provides support by developing and maintaining a coordinated approach for procurement and contract management, materials management, seeking value for money, relationship and performance management of suppliers and offering advice on all areas of the Group’s purchasing, contract and materials/warehousing activities to the PMT whilst managing the expectations of the Company’s client, community and other external stakeholders.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a purchasing strategy to create significant value, ensure quality and deliver significant cost reduction during the life of the project.
- Lead all Supply Chain Management activities for the project in line with established SCM and Group business policies
- Lead the project deployed SCM teams in delivering outstanding performance in all procurement and contracting activities for the project.
- Identify new low-cost procurement and contracting opportunities, vendors identification; manage, monitor and report cost reduction achievements and deliver significant improvement in the project management procurement process for project.
- Deploy and use the Group’s procurement/sourcing process and negotiate effective procurement of raw materials, equipment, supplies, and services to maximize cost efficiencies and quality.
- Establish proper hedging positions to insulate the business unit from any external disruptions to supply during the life of the project.
- Plan, organize, direct, and control policies and activities related to the deployed SCM team in order to obtain the best value for the right goods and or services in support of the project.
- In line with established procedure evaluate suppliers’ bids utilizing appropriate negotiation and contracting/procurement techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service.
- Prepare and review contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for price, and acceptability of items to job specifications as per project requirement.
- Lead the deployed SCM team to minimize the project’s overall procurement/contracting costs without compromising quality or reliability of supply/service.
- Identify, evaluate, and capitalize on opportunities to reduce procurement/contracting costs by improving the project’s buying patterns and supply channels thereby affecting the organization’s bottom-line.
- Establish and develop strong working relationships with third party suppliers to ensure that the quality of service provision is consistently managed and challenged to meet agreed service level agreements
Job Specifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration.
- 7+ years' experience in purchasing, materials management or indirect category management.
- Membership with relevant professional bodies.
- Adept in the following skills - Service agreement, negotiation communication, strategy, contracts.
