Job Description
Main Functions
- Perform rope access activities under the supervision of Level 2 Rope Access Technicians on offshore facilities (e.g., FPSO, drilling rigs) to carry out maintenance, inspections, and repairs in hard-to-reach areas.
- Rig and install rope access systems and equipment in compliance with offshore safety and operational standards.
- Assist with tasks such as equipment inspections, structural repairs, and other maintenance activities requiring access at height or in confined spaces.
- Conduct minor troubleshooting and basic maintenance on equipment during inspection or repair operations.
- Assist in emergency rescue operations as required, following established safety protocols.
- Maintain records of rope access activities, equipment inspections, and safety checks.
- Follow risk assessments and safety protocols in performing tasks.
- Report any unsafe working conditions, equipment issues, or incidents to the RAT Level 2 or supervisory personnel.
Skills and Qualifications
Documentation and Reporting Skills:
- Capable of maintaining accurate records of tasks completed, inspections performed, and equipment used.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding the status of tasks.
- IRATA Level 1 certification (or equivalent) for rope access technicians.
- Offshore safety certification (e.g., BOSIET, HUET).
- Medical Certificate for offshore work (e.g., fitness to work in confined spaces and at heights).
- 2 - 5 years of experience as a Rope Access Technician Level 1 or 2, preferably in offshore or industrial environments.
- Previous experience in offshore operations, including working on FPSOs, rigs, or other oil and gas platforms is highly desirable.
Rope Access Skills:
- Proficient in rigging rope access systems, including anchoring, rope installation, and other techniques necessary for safe work at height.
- Ability to use rope access to perform tasks such as painting, maintenance, inspections, or installing equipment.
Mechanical Skills (Optional):
- Basic mechanical or electrical knowledge for maintenance and troubleshooting tasks.
Safety Awareness:
- In-depth understanding of offshore safety procedures, risk assessments, and emergency response protocols.
- Familiar with offshore rescue techniques, and able to assist in rescue operations if needed.
Physical Fitness:
- Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, at height, and in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Fitness and health standards are required for working offshore and handling rope access equipment.
