Job Description
Job Purpose
- To provide support in the various accounting functions which include correcting, processing, analyzing and reconciling a wide variety of accounting documents such as invoices, departmental billings, employee reimbursements, cash receipts, vendor statements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Verification of calculations and input of codes into the accounting system in an accurate manner;
- Posting ofcash receipts and payment vouchers into the cashbook;
- Ensuring all respective support documents such as receipts are attached to payment vouchers;
- Monthly preparation of bank reconciliations;
- Compilation, analysis and preparation of data for financial statements, expenditures, revenues, accounts and reports;
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and provision of updates on budget implementation;
- Assist in monitoring the expenditures to ensure that funds are utilized appropriately by the close of the fiscal year.
- Participation in the preparations for external, internal and tax audit exercises;
- Ensuring all relevant files and documents are readily available for smooth running of audit exercises;
- Performing any other duties asrequired;
Key Performance Indicators
- Ability to reconcile and or balance financial transactions and accounts.
- Knowledge of accounting and book-keeping terminology and practices.
- Knowledge of general record keeping and filing systems.
- Ability to compare data from a variety of sources for accuracy and completeness.
- Ability to detect errors.
- Ability to determine work priorities
Working conditions
- Work is primarily done in a business/office environment
- Limited travel.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
- Must have 3-5 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting for a structured organization (previous oil & gas experience is compulsory)
- A certified member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN)/ACCA.
- Knowledge of applicable accounting and financial reporting rules, regulations and requirements
- Strong analytical skills – understanding of revenue – cost structures andtranslatedata to clear analytics
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel and PowerPoint); experience with financial modeling a plus
