Job Introduction




  • We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee the reconstruction work of a major African port.

  • The Site Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the construction site, ensuring adherence to deadlines, safety standards, and effective coordination of on-site teams.



Responsibilities

Site Supervision:




  • Lead and coordinate construction activities to ensure timely project execution.

  • Monitor work progress in collaboration with engineering and construction teams.

  • Ensure compliance with design specifications, technical requirements, and quality standards.



Team & Safety Management:




  • Supervise on-site teams, including technicians, laborers, and subcontractors, to ensure efficiency and productivity.

  • Enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and regulatory guidelines on site.

  • Conduct daily briefings with team leaders to optimize workflow and resolve operational issues.



Logistics & Resource Management:




  • Ensure the availability and proper use of equipment, materials, and site resources.

  • Coordinate deliveries and manage on-site storage efficiently.

  • Anticipate resource needs to prevent delays in project execution.



Cost Control & Reporting:




  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, and expenditures, ensuring cost control and financial accountability throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Review and approve project invoices, change orders, and other financial documents in accordance with established procedures and contractual obligations.

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including budget variance analysis and forecasting projections.



Desired Skills and Experience




  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in site management for large-scale construction projects, preferably in the maritime or port sector.

  • Strong knowledge of construction techniques, safety regulations, and local compliance standards.

  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to manage large on-site teams.

  • Ability to work under pressure and quickly solve operational issues.

  • Proficiency in construction site management tools and software (MS Project, AutoCAD, Excel).
