Reports To: School Administrator/Finance Manager
Job Summary:
The Account Officer will be responsible for managing the school's financial records, processing transactions, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and school policies. This role involves handling tuition fees, payroll, budgeting, and financial planning to support the school's operations effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Record-Keeping
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records of the school.
- Record and process all financial transactions, including tuition fees, expenses, and other income
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
- Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Fee Collection & Billing
- Prepare and issue invoices for tuition and other school fees.
- Track fee payments and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Maintain records of discounts, scholarships, and installment payment plans.
Payroll & Employee Benefits
- Assist in processing payroll for teaching and non-teaching staff.
- Ensure timely payment of salaries, allowances, and statutory deductions (e.g., taxes, pensions, insurance).
- Maintain records of employee benefits and deductions.
Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Assist in preparing the school’s annual budget.
- Monitor expenditure and suggest cost-saving measures.
- Provide financial reports and insights to support management decisions.
Compliance & Auditing
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and school policies.
- Assist in financial audits by preparing necessary documentation and reports.
Procurement & Inventory Control
- Assist in managing school purchases and procurement processes.
- Maintain records of school assets and inventory.
Financial Reporting
- Generate financial statements and reports for school management.
- Provide periodic updates on the financial health of the school.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 2 years’ proven experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in an educational institution.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations and tax laws.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
