The Midwife will be responsible for providing quality maternal and neonatal health care services, including antenatal care, identification and referral of GBV Cases to SARC center. The role involves promoting safe deliveries, ensuring proper referral mechanisms, and conducting health education sessions for pregnant and lactating women.
Main Purpose
Provide obstetrical care to pregnant women and their babies, doing follow up before, during and after delivery, according to NPHCD/WHO obstetrical and reproductive health protocols, universal hygienic and newborn caring standards and under supervision of Head of Medical activities, in order to ensure their health conditions and avoid post-delivery complications.
Accountabilities
Provide antenatal care services
Counselling of Pregnant and lactating mothers
Educate mothers on infant care, breastfeeding, immunization, nutrition and orientation for family planning
For non-complicated pregnancies, counselling on self-referral to OCB BEMONCs
For emergencies and at-risk pregnancies, identify and refer to OCB CEMONC
Identification and counselling of SGBV cases
Referral cases to Sexual assault referral center (SARC) for holistic care (mental health, social services, legal services),
Referral cases to OCB BEMONCs for services not provided in SARC
Family planning Orientation to OCB BEMONCs
Ensuring the implementation and continuity of antenatal care and postnatal care (when the activity is starting), family planning (when the activity is starting).
Ensuring implementation of the PMTCT protocol in the ANC (pre counselling, test and post counselling
Assessing the feasibility for referral of pregnant women from the community to the OPD/MCH for medical evaluation and/or complicated deliveries.
Performing cleaning and minor maintenance for biomedical equipment used. Following the user manual and protocols and alert the Head of Medical activities in case of malfunctioning.
Guaranteeing a regular and ongoing supply of drugs and equipment required for maternity activities (including monitoring/consumption control/ordering of orders. And Ensuring patients’ right to privacy and confidentiality is respected
Supervising that administrative procedures of admissions and hospitalizations comply with NPHCD/WHO protocols, as well as verify patients are properly informed and receive the documents required (birth certificate, vaccination card, etc
Requirements:
Education
Essential midwifery qualification or specialization.
Desired Diploma in Midwifery or Community Midwifery.
Experience
Essential working experience of at least 3 years in midwife activities related jobs.
Languages
Essential, local working language (Kanuri and Shuwa) would be an asset.
