Academic Qualification
A qualification (HND/Bachelors) in electrical/electronic Engineering Discipline or related discipline.
Age < 55yrs
Work Experience
- Minimum of 5 years relevant professional engineering experience within the Oil and Gas Industry
- A work experience as Electrical Technician within SPDC East Asset operations will be an added advantage.
Skills
Must possess the following competences
Electrical Safety
- Knowledge of electrical safety, use and application of electrical safety rules, identification, and mitigation of hazards.
- Knowledge of electrical standards as well as electrical protection and control systems.
- Methods of repair of Ex-equipment, including limitations of what can or cannot be repaired and certification implications and requirements.
Maintenance of Electrical Equipment
- Identify the various electrical low voltage (LV) equipment – generators, motors, lighting, heat tracing, switchgear, small transformers, UPS and batteries).
- Identify the various high voltage (HV) equipment – generators, motors, large transformers, switchgear)
- Evaluate and interpret equipment performance and integrity data
- Recognize and respond to abnormal conditions and take appropriate corrective action on LV / HV equipment
- Troubleshoot and diagnose common faults on LV / HV equipment
- Perform servicing and repair in line with recognized procedures and standards
- Apply approved procedures and standards for disassembly and reassembly of electrical equipment
- Use of the appropriate tools and equipment
- Knowledge of the various types of condition monitoring activities and diagnostic tools
- Provide support during equipment shutdown, start up, isolation and re-instatement as part of the maintenance process
Other Electrical Maintenance
- Perform routine maintenance of the earthing and lighting system
- Carryout lighting system maintenance around the Facility.
- Knowledge of maintenance routines on cathodic protection systems
General
- Knowledge of basic electrical tools and workshop machinery.
- Knowledge of area classification layouts and electrical equipment for hazardous areas
- Interpret information contained in the various types of electrical drawings.
Soft Skills (Added advantage)
- Computer literate, ability to perform basic computer related activities
- Competent user of Microsoft Office applications

Roles and Responsibilities
- Assess health of electrical equipment, identify equipment deviation outside normal operating parameters.
- Participate in review of maintenance job routines and preparation of work method statements
- Participate in job hazard analysis / prepare job risk assessment
- Identify appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) associated with the activity.
- Gather appropriate documentation and prepare Permit to work.
- Identify and stage materials, equipment spares and tools for equipment maintenance.
- Carryout isolation of energy source in preparation for maintenance work
- Execute routine maintenance activities in line with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and company standards.
- Troubleshoot and analyze electrical equipment faults using diagnostic tools, test devices and measuring instruments.
- Support OEM field service representatives during execution of major equipment maintenance activities.
- Conduct proper housekeeping and restore work site to a safe state after job completion.
- Document relevant logbook with performance data post maintenance work and update equipment maintenance records
- Support reviews of operating/maintenance procedure and propose changes.
- Support planning of electrical scope of major / turnaround / milestone maintenance activities.
- Participate in equipment failure investigation (root cause analysis) and proffer improvement initiatives.
- Comply with HSE practices and procedures.
- Participate in HSE meetings and site safety campaigns
- Close out all other assigned actions in line with audit findings.
Work Cycle
- The work location is a swamp-field located in Belema
- Work base location is Port Harcourt. You may be required to attend courses in Shell IA PHC or other PHC locations as advised as well as other official assignments
- The job activity period is daily on 12-hour (7am to7pm) routine over a 21-day period.
- There is a standard 3weeks on and 3weeks off schedule.
- The successful candidate will manage own absences with his/her contractor for suitable qualified covers.
- Personnel may be required to work extended hours as need may arises.
