The Tax Accountant is responsible for preparing and filing tax returns, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations, and developing strategies to optimize tax liabilities.
The role requires strong analytical skills, in-depth knowledge of tax codes, and the ability to work accurately under deadlines.
The Tax Accountant also plays a key role in supporting audits and providing guidance on tax-related issues.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and file accurate and timely tax returns (e.g., corporate tax, VAT, PAYE, withholding tax).
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax laws and regulations.
Conduct regular tax reconciliations and analyze financial data for tax implications.
Provide advice on tax planning and strategies to legally minimize tax liabilities.
Monitor changes in tax laws and assess their impact on the organization.
Liaise with tax authorities regarding inquiries, audits, and compliance issues.
Assist in preparing supporting documentation for tax audits and reviews.
Maintain up-to-date records of all tax filings and payments.
Collaborate with internal teams (finance, legal, operations) to ensure tax considerations are integrated into business processes.
Assist with budgeting and forecasting from a tax perspective.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Miniimum of 3 years of experience in tax accounting or a related field.
Must be able to independently handle all company tax issues, supervise the handling of external accounts and employee personal income tax issues.
Must possess a professional certification like ICAN or ACCA.
Strong knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); experience with tax software is an advantage.
