Job Description
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, review, and approve structural designs, drawings, and calculations.
- Perform load analysis, stress testing, and risk assessments to ensure structural safety.
- Select appropriate materials and construction techniques to enhance durability and cost-effectiveness.
- Lead structural engineering teams in the planning and execution of construction projects.
- Oversee site inspections to ensure adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, and regulatory bodies for seamless project execution.
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct structural inspections, assessments, and audits for existing and new projects.
- Identify and mitigate potential structural risks before and during construction.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to project teams.
- Conduct training sessions on best engineering practices and innovations.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and problem-solving within the engineering team.
- Organizing materials and ensuring sites are safe and clean.
- Providing technical advice and suggestions for improvement on projects.
- Negotiating with suppliers and vendors to ensure the best values.
- Authorizing technical details and engineering plans.
- Drawing up work schedules, POW and communicating any adjustments to team members and Management.
- Gathering data, compiling reports and delivering presentations to relevant stakeholders.
- Delegating tasks and scheduling meetings and training sessions where required.
- Completing quality assurance and providing feedback to the team.
- Any other projects as may be assigned.
Essential Requirements
- M.Sc in Civil/Structural Engineering/Building
- 10 – 12 years of executive-level experience as a Senior Engineer in a related field
- Registered with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) or CORBON.
- A member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) or NIOB
