Summary




  • For our work in Maiduguri, Borno State Nigeria, Malteser International is looking for an experienced Food, Nutrition Security and Livelihood Assistant  - National Position.

  • Under the direct supervision of the FNSL Manager, the Food Nutrition Security and Livelihood Assistant will be responsible for the implementation of FNSL activities in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. 

  • Within the responsibilities, the Assistant will need to ensure compliance with Malteser International’s and donor guidelines to implement FNSL intervention.



Your Responsibilities




  • Implementation of Food, Nutrition Security, and Livelihood Projects: Support needs assessments, beneficiary training, gender mainstreaming, monitoring of livestock and micro-gardening, and participate in partner coordination meetings

  • Data Collection, Reporting, and Compliance: Collect and analyze data, prepare reports, monitor project progress, propose improvements, ensure compliance, and coordinate internally and externally

  • Building Relationships with Local Partners and Community: Engage with local partners, community leaders, and beneficiaries to maintain positive relationships and ensure project alignment with community needs

  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other related tasks, ensure flexibility in daily activities, adhere to Malteser International’s principles, and report challenges and progress to supervisors.



Your Profile




  • At least 2 years of working experience with an INGO in a developing country and/or humanitarian context with a minimum of National Diploma in agriculture or Nutrition related field.

  • Excellent project management, partnership management, and coordination skills

  • Extensive field team management experience as well as security, safety, and resource management experience 

  • Proactive, resourceful, solutions- and results-oriented, with a genuine interest in learning 

  • Ability to work effectively with local governments, align with MI values and standards, and cope in stressful or hostile environments, including travelling to deep field locations and conducting partner visits

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the capacity to see the big picture and make sound judgments and decisions

  • Strong communication skills.
