Job Summary
- As a generator Operator at rapid rentals, you are responsible in ensuring the proper functioning, maintenance, and repair of generator sets.
- Overseeing generator installations, conducting inspections, performing repairs and maintenance, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues, and ensuring the efficient operation of the generator fleet.
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of generator maintenance, repairs, and inspections
- Generate reports on generator performance, maintenance activities, and recommended improvements
- Provide on-call support and respond to emergency generator issues promptly
- Conduct emergency repairs and troubleshooting to minimize downtime
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations
- Adhere to safety protocols and promote a safe working environment during all generator-related activities
- Collaborate with other departments and team members to ensure seamless integration of generators into client projects
- Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and suppliers regarding generator-related matters
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies and best practices related to generator engineering.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct generator installations, ensuring proper mounting, connection, and setup
- Perform commissioning tests to ensure generators are functioning optimally
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for generator sets
- Perform regular inspections, testing, and servicing of generators to detect and prevent potential issues
- Diagnosis and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues in generator systems
- Perform repairs and component replacements to restore generators to proper working condition
- Conduct load bank testing to assess generator performance under varying loads
- Evaluate generator performance metrics and make necessary adjustments or recommendations.
Key Performance Indicators
- Equipment Uptime: Maintain a high percentage of operational time for generators, ensuring minimal downtime and maximizing customer satisfaction.
- Mean Time to Repair: Aim for a low average time to repair generators, resolving issues efficiently and minimizing customer disruption
- Preventive Maintenance Completion Rate: Ensure 100% scheduled preventive maintenance tasks is completed within the specified timeframe to proactively maintain generators and prevent unexpected breakdowns
- Response Time to Emergencies: Strive for a quick response to emergency situations, restoring power promptly and minimizing customer inconvenience.
- Cost Control: Monitor and control maintenance costs, including repairs, spare parts, and labor, optimizing efficiency and minimizing expenses while maintaining quality service.
- Inventory Management: Optimize spare parts inventory by monitoring stock levels, ensuring availability of necessary components, and minimizing excess or obsolete inventory.
Requirements
- Strong technical expertise in generator systems with over 4-5 years’ experience, electrical principles, and power distribution
- Proficiency in troubleshooting generator malfunctions, electrical failures, and mechanical issues
- Ability to repair and maintain generator components, including engines, alternators, control panels, voltage regulators, and wiring
- Commitment to adhering to safety protocols, guidelines, regulations
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, electrical and mechanical drawings, and schematics
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Adaptability to work in diverse environments and handling varying customer demands
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team and coordinate with colleagues, contractors, and vendors
- Willingness to continuously learn and stay updated with industry advancements and best practices in generator maintenance.
