Our client, a digital freight forwarder and customs broker for Africa, is looking for an experienced Head of People to lead the Human Resources function of the organisation. The candidate will be pivotal in shaping the HR strategy and driving organizational growth by fostering a high-performing and engaged workforce. 



Responsibilities



Strategic HR Leadership




  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the company’s goals.

  • Provide counsel to the CEO on talent management and organizational development.

  • Establish and maintain an effective performance management framework.



Talent Acquisition & Management




  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to attract top talent.

  • Design employee development programs to enhance skills and career growth.



Employee Engagement & Culture




  • Foster a positive work culture that aligns with the company’s values.

  • Implement employee engagement initiatives to boost morale and productivity.



Compensation & Benefits




  • Manage payroll, pensions, health insurance (HMO), and other benefits.

  • Conduct periodic reviews of compensation structures to ensure competitiveness.



Compliance & Policy Implementation




  • Ensure compliance with Nigerian labour laws and company policies.

  • Regularly update HR policies in line with industry best practices.



Qualifications




  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.

  • Minimum of 7 years of people operations, recruiting including general HR experience, and 3 years' experience in leadership roles.

  • Strong knowledge of the Nigerian labour laws and HR best practices.

  • Utilizes Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint) proficiently for creating documents, managing data, and preparing comprehensive presentations and reports.

  • Proven track record in implementing HR strategies that drive business outcomes.

  • Experience with startups and cross-country recruitment.



Must have skills




  • Exceptional organisational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-department collaboration.

  • Proven track record of driving organisational culture initiatives.

  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and exercise conscious control of time spent on assigned tasks/activities to improve overall productivity.
