Job Description
Job Purpose
- The Material Planning Officer is responsible for ensuring the timely and efficient planning, procurement, and availability of materials to meet production and operational requirements.
- This role involves forecasting material needs, coordinating with suppliers, and optimizing inventory levels to support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Material Planning & Forecasting:
- Develop and maintain material requirement plans based on production schedules and demand forecasts.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure optimal stock availability to prevent shortages or excess inventory.
- Analyze consumption patterns and adjust material planning strategies accordingly.
Supplier Coordination & Procurement Support:
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials while maintaining quality standards.
- Monitor supplier performance and escalate issues related to delays, quality, or cost discrepancies.
- Assist in negotiating contracts and purchase agreements with suppliers.
- Maintain accurate records of material orders, deliveries, and stock levels.
Inventory & Cost Management:
- Track and control material costs, identifying opportunities for cost savings.
- Implement inventory optimization strategies to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
- Conduct regular stock audits and reconcile discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations in material planning and procurement.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3 - 5 years of experience in material planning, inventory management, or procurement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in demand forecasting and supply chain analysis.
- Proficiency in material planning software (e.g., SAP or similar tools).
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
