Department/Division/Unit: Paediatrics



Job Objective/Purpose:



The Consultant Paediatrician is responsible for providing high-quality care for paediatric cases, including neonates, and streamlining paediatric care practices within the department.



Reporting Relationships:




  • Functionally Reports To: Head of Department – Paediatrics

  • Administratively Reports To: Head of Department – Paediatrics

  • Supervises: Medical officers and nurses



Working Relationships:




  • Internal: Other consultants, medical officers, directors, and nursing staff

  • External: Clients, patients, parents, and patient relatives



Key Responsibilities:




  • Provide comprehensive care and management for paediatric cases, including neonates (preterm and term babies).

  • Develop and adhere to clinical practice guidelines.

  • Conduct ward rounds and specialist outpatient clinics.

  • Case reporting and documentation.

  • Perform administrative duties as required by the department.



Education and Qualifications:




  • Education: MBBS or its equivalent

  • Professional Training: Residency in Paediatrics from a recognized institution

  • Licensing: Valid medical practice license

  • Professional Qualification: Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College in Paediatrics or its equivalent



Experience:




  • 1 year post-residency experience is desirable.

Functional/Technical:




  • Basic life support skills

  • Strong paediatric skills with a focus on neonatology

  • Teaching and supervisory skills (for medical officers and nurses)



Managerial:




  • Service-oriented and courteous

  • Strong time management and multitasking abilities

  • Ability to work under pressure, demonstrating problem-solving and leadership potential

  • Computer literacy



Behavioral:




  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills



Work Cycle (Hours/Days):




  • Monday to Friday: 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM

  • Saturdays: As per department’s duty schedule

  • Call duty and weekend coverage as per the department’s rotation.
