Department/Division/Unit: Surgery



Job Objective/Purpose:



The Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon will provide expert care for all orthopaedic cases, ensuring the standardization and streamlining of orthopaedic care practices across the department.



Reporting Relationships:




  • Functionally Reports To: Chief of Surgery

  • Administratively Reports To: Chief of Surgery

  • Supervises: Medical officers and nurses



Working Relationships:




  • Internal: Other consultants, medical officers, directors, and nursing staff

  • External: Clients, patients, and their relatives



Key Responsibilities:




  • Provide care and management for orthopaedic patients, both in outpatient and inpatient settings.

  • Develop and adhere to clinical practice guidelines.

  • Conduct ward rounds and specialist outpatient clinics.

  • Provide case reporting and documentation.

  • Perform other duties as required by the department.



Education and Qualifications:




  • Education: MBBS or its equivalent

  • Professional Training: Residency in Surgery from a recognized institution

  • Licensing: Valid medical practice license

  • Professional Qualification: Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College in Surgery or equivalent



Experience:




  • A minimum of 1 year post-residency experience is desirable.

Functional/Technical:




  • Strong orthopaedic surgical skills

  • Basic life support skills

  • Teaching and supervisory skills (for medical officers and nurses)



Managerial:




  • Service-oriented, courteous, and a team player

  • Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently

  • Ability to work under pressure, demonstrate leadership, and solve problems effectively

  • Computer literacy



Behavioral:




  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills



Work Cycle (Hours/Days):




  • Monday to Friday: 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM

  • Saturdays: As per department’s duty schedule

  • Call duty and weekend coverage as per the department’s rotation.
