Job Summary




  • We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Labouratory Techinician to join our healthcare team.



Responsibilities




  • Collecting, examining, and analysing patient specimens to provide the information required by the Medical Officer for diagnosis and treatment.

  • Preparing chemical solutions, reagents, microscope slides, and culture media for laboratory tests.

  • Maintaining, calibrating, cleaning, and testing the sterility of the equipment

  • Carrying out microscopic examination of specimens for pathogens.

  • Preparing buffer solutions, fluids, and stains.

  • Identifying malaria parasites, trypanosomes, spirochetes, and other protozoa

  • Ensuring that laboratory equipment, tubes, and glassware are properly sterilized and maintained in good condition.

  • Organise and store all chemicals, substances, fluids, and compressed gasses according to safety instructions.

  • Monitoring and recording temperature using temperature charts

  • Ensure that all safety guidelines are always followed strictly and maintain a clean and orderly environment.

  • Reports incidents, including instrument failures, problems and solutions.

  • Represents the organisation by applying the principles of customer care in the medical pathology field and interacting professionally

  • Preparing stains, reagents and simple media for cultivation of bacteria to perform cross-matching; compatibility tests of blood for blood transfusion and simple serological tests.

  • Ensuring that laboratory equipment, tubes, and glassware are properly sterilized and maintained in good condition.

  • Performing quality control of all laboratory processes.



Requirements




  • National Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology

  • A licensed Medical Laboratory Technician

  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced organization.

  • Knowledge of laboratory standard operating procedures

  • Experience in operating electrical and non-electrical laboratory equipment

  • In-depth knowledge of QHSE systems, preventive measures, and laboratory best practices.

  • Must be comfortable with shift based work mode.
