Job Overview

• We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Microbiologist to join our team in Calabar.


• The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in microbiological research, laboratory techniques, and analysis.


• As a Microbiologist, you will be responsible for performing tests, analyzing microbial samples, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. 


• You will also work closely with other team members to support scientific research and improve operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct microbiological testing and analysis of various samples, including water, food, and environmental samples.


• Maintain and operate laboratory equipment, ensuring all instruments are calibrated and functioning properly.


• Develop and implement microbiological testing protocols and procedures.


• Perform quality control checks on laboratory results, ensuring accuracy and reliability.


• Identify, isolate, and classify microorganisms, including bacteria, fungi, and viruses.


• Monitor and interpret microbial growth patterns and ensure compliance with safety standards.


• Analyze data and prepare detailed reports on microbiological findings.


• Collaborate with other departments to improve processes and address any microbiological issues.


• Keep up to date with the latest developments and trends in microbiology and laboratory technology.


• Ensure proper documentation of all laboratory activities and results.


• Assist in training and mentoring junior laboratory staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Degree in Microbiology or a related field (Master's degree preferred).


• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a microbiological or laboratory setting.


• Proficiency in microbiological testing methods and laboratory procedures.


• Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards in microbiological research.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex data.


• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
