  • We are seeking a dedicated and results-driven Collection Officer to join our team in Lagos. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and recovering outstanding loans from customers while maintaining a positive customer relationship and adhering to regulatory requirements.



Key Responsibilities




  • Loan Collections: Follow up on outstanding loans and ensure timely recovery of payments from customers.

  • Customer Communication: Contact customers who have missed payments to remind them of their obligations and discuss feasible repayment plans.

  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all customer interactions, payment arrangements, and loan statuses using internal systems.

  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to financial regulations and internal policies when engaging with customers and recovering debts.

  • Customer Support: Provide clear and helpful responses to customers' questions regarding loan terms, interest rates, and repayment schedules.

  • Reporting: Prepare and submit regular reports to management detailing collection progress, problematic accounts, and potential risks.



Education Requirements





  • Degree or Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.





Experience Requirements:




  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a startup environment within the lending or financial services industry.

  • Hands-on experience with collections, debt recovery, handling delinquent accounts, and negotiating repayment terms.

  • Familiarity with financial statements and basic credit principles.



Key Skills:




  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Effective negotiation skills with the ability to manage difficult conversations professionally.

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • Basic knowledge of loan agreements, credit processes, and debt collection laws and regulations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and collection management software.
