Job Overview
- The business and administrative manager shall oversee the day to day administrative operations and financial managements of howbury school’s post 16 years programme as well as Howbury polymedic School.
- You will play a vital role in ensuring effective management, business growth and the seamless functioning of both educational institutions.
- As the business and administrative Manager, you will create and maintain administrative systems that will keep the organization operating.
- You will develop procedures that optimise and streamline operations to maximize productivity and ensure that various departments within the school can operate together smoothly.
- You will ensure that staff adheres to the applicable procedures and provide support where necessary and continually assess and improve administrative processes to reduce expenses.
- As a managerial role, you will often help with recruiting employees by reviewing job applications and participating in interviews.
- You may also help to train or organize training and onboarding for new employees.
- For existing employees, you will continually assess performances, conduct periodic reviews, set goals and targets and provide coaching or support.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Management:
- Develop and implement comprehensive administrative systems and processes to enhance optimal efficiency
- Supervise administrative personnel, ensuring alignment with the school’s objectives and policies
- Coordinate with academic and support staff to facilitate smooth school operations
- Oversee student registration, enrollment processes, and maintain accurate records
Financial Management:
- Prepare and manage annual budgets for both Howbury School’s post 16 years education programme and howbury polymedic School.
- Monitor financial performances, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints and financial policies.
- Handle invoicing, payroll and financial reporting ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities including grants, donations and partnerships.
Business Development:
- Strategise and implement business plans to foster growth and sustainability of both institutions
- Develop and nurture relationships with stakeholders, partners and the local community.
- Promote the school’s programme and services to enhance enrollment and community engagement
- Evaluate and improve business operations identifying areas for innovations and improvements
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with educational regulations, health and safety standards and institutional policies
- Conduct regular risk assessments and implement appropriate risk management strategies.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of legal requirements and best practices in school administration and business management
- Ensure the registration and accreditation of the schools by relevant regular bodies.

- Orientation and Familiarization: Spend time acquainting yourself with the school's facilities, systems, and key personnel. Understand the organizational structure and the roles of various departments.
- Identify recruitment strategies for key Stakeholders, draw up duties and responsibilities for all key positions. Establish a good rapport with your team and other staff members.
- Create Strategic Plans and Policies: create school's strategic plan, policies, and procedures on a background of the full understanding of the goals and objectives of the post-16 education program.
- Create Budget Reports: Create and review the current financial status, including budgets, expenditures, and forecasts. Identify any immediate financial priorities or concerns.
- Set Up Communications: Establish communication channels with all relevant stakeholders, including parents, students, and external partners. Ensure that you have access to all necessary communication tools and platforms.
- Organize Administrative Tasks: Set up your office, organize files and documents, and ensure you have access to all necessary administrative tools and resources.
- Plan Immediate Priorities: Identify and prioritize immediate tasks and projects that require your attention. Create a plan of action for the first month.
- Familiarize with IT Systems: Get acquainted with the school's IT systems, including databases, software, and any other digital tools used for administrative and educational purposes.
- Compliance and Regulatory Review: Ensure that you understand the compliance and regulatory requirements for post-16 education and that the school is meeting all necessary standards.
