Job Summary




  • The Refurbishment Officer is a key member of the operational team, responsible for performing the hands-on technical tasks involved in refurbishing batteries. Working under the direction of the Shop Floor Manager, 

  • This role involves diagnosing battery conditions, performing repairs and component replacements, conducting tests, and ensuring all work meets Battregen's established quality standards and safety procedures.

  • Refurbishment Officers contribute directly to the company's core service delivery by skillfully restoring battery performance.



Responsibilities




  • Receive assigned batteries and perform initial inspections and diagnostic tests (e.g., visual checks, voltage tests, capacity analysis) as per standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Perform battery disassembly accurately and safely using appropriate tools and techniques.

  • Extract defective cells using specialized tools such as cell extractor levers, following established methods.

  • Safely drain acid from batteries strictly in accordance with safety protocols and environmental guidelines.

  • Clean battery components thoroughly according to specifications.

  • Perform cell cutting and welding tasks accurately using appropriate equipment and safety measures where required by the refurbishment process.

  • Execute and maintain cell refurbishing and flushing procedures precisely according to technical guidelines.

  • Identify faulty or worn components (other than cells, e.g., connectors, terminals, and casings) based on testing and inspection.

  • Replace defective parts accurately using designated tools and adhering to technical guidelines.

  • Reassemble batteries correctly, ensuring proper connections, component placement, and seals.

  • Conduct final quality control tests (e.g., load testing, capacity verification, final voltage checks) to ensure the refurbished battery meets performance standards.



Requirements




  • Minimum of Ordinary National Diploma (OND), in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Automotive Technology, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.

  • Prior hands-on technical experience (1 - 2 years minimum preferred) in assembly, repair, maintenance, or testing of electrical / electronic or mechanical equipment/systems is desirable.

  • Experience working directly with batteries (e.g., automotive, industrial, solar) is an advantage.

  • Experience using hand tools (spanners, screwdrivers, pliers) and basic power tools (drills, drivers) is essential.

  • Experience working in a formal workshop, factory, or technical service environment is preferred.

  • Basic understanding of electrical principles (voltage, current, resistance) and/or mechanical principles.

  • Ability to read and correctly interpret work instructions, basic diagrams, or technical procedures.

  • Ability to learn how to operate testing equipment (e.g., multimeter, load tester); prior experience is a plus.

  • Understanding of basic workshop safety rules and procedures.
