Job Summary
- We are seeking skilled and motivated Fiber Optic Technicians to support the deployment and maintenance of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) networks. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in Home Pass installations, home connection activations, and a solid understanding of fiber optic equipment and tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform fiber optic installation, splicing, and testing from distribution point to customer premises.
- Execute Home Pass activities, including cable pulling, duct rodding, micro-trenching, and optical distribution point (ODP) installation.
- Handle end-to-end Home Connection setup at customer premises including internal wiring and ONT/router installation.
- Use fiber testing tools (OTDR, power meter, VFL) to verify signal strength and network performance.
- Maintain and troubleshoot customer-side fiber connectivity issues.
- Accurately document installation details and maintain project records.
- Collaborate with project teams and follow installation schedules and quality standards.
- Follow all safety procedures and industry best practices during fieldwork.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in fiber optic installation and maintenance (FTTH/Home Pass/Home Connection)
- Strong knowledge of fiber optic tools and testing equipment.
- Familiar with ODF, ODP, FDT,FAT,splitters, ONT, routers, and related passive/active components.
- Ability to read and interpret fiber design maps and diagrams.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in Fiber Optics (e.g., FOA, ETA, BICSI) are a plus.
- Experience with GPON/FTTH technologies.
- Basic knowledge of IP networking and customer-premise equipment.
- HND/BSC in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science, Civil Engineer or any of the natural Sciences
