Our client in the Real Estate Development industry is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Head of Civil/Structural Engineering to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of construction projects from the ground up. This role is for a dynamic individual with deep technical knowledge in structural design, site supervision, and civil works, alongside strong leadership and project management skills. The ideal candidate will bring a hands-on approach to engineering, lead a multidisciplinary team, and ensure timely, safe, and high-quality project execution.
Summary of Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and supervise the civil/structural engineering team across all projects.
- Mentor junior engineers and ensure team performance aligns with project goals.
Project Oversight
- Oversee planning, design, and execution of civil and structural engineering projects.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
Design Review & Approval
- Approve structural designs, calculations, and drawings.
- Conduct technical reviews and value engineering to optimize project efficiency.
Coordination & Collaboration
- Liaise with architects, consultants, contractors, and clients.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Implement quality control measures and engineering best practices.
- Ensure all work meets legal, environmental, and sustainability standards.
Budget & Resource Management
- Manage project budgets, resource allocation, and timelines.
- Support cost estimation and risk assessment activities.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Promote the use of modern engineering tools, software, and methodologies.
- Lead efforts for continuous process and design improvements
Requirements
- 8-10 years of relevant experience, with at least 2–3 years in a senior or leadership position.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in civil or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, with at least 2–3 years in a senior or leadership position.
- Registered with a recognized professional body (e.g., COREN or equivalent).
- Proficiency in structural engineering software (AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD. Pro, ETABS, etc.).
- Strong expertise in building from foundation to finish, including concrete works, reinforcements, and structural detailing.
- Proven track record in managing construction sites and engineering teams.
- Excellent project management, leadership, and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
