Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Management:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, Prepare, analyze, and present accurate financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Develop, monitor, and manage budgets to align with organizational goals, Provide financial forecasts to guide business decisions.
Tax Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and handle tax filings, remittances, and audits.
Internal Controls:
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
Inventory Accounting:
- Manage inventory accounting and reconcile stock movement with financial records.
- Collaborate with store managers to ensure accurate stock reporting and valuation.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless financial operations.
Stakeholder Communication:
- Liaise with auditors, tax authorities, and financial institutions.
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior management for strategic financial planning.
Minimum Education Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional certification such as ICAN, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent is mandatory.
Skills & Experience:
- 7-10 years of accounting experience, with at least 8 years in a senior accounting role in the retail industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems).
- In-depth knowledge of financial regulations and tax laws in Nigeria.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
