Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head, Technical Operations to lead and oversee all technical functions related to policy administration, underwriting, claims, reinsurance, and actuarial coordination.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring operational excellence, compliance with regulatory standards, and continuous process improvements across technical operations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of all technical departments including Underwriting, Claims, Policy Administration, and Reinsurance.
Design and implement efficient processes, controls, and service delivery standards to support seamless policy lifecycle management.
Ensure accurate and timely processing of policy issuance, renewals, endorsements, surrenders, claims, and benefits payouts.
Collaborate with the actuarial and finance teams to provide data, support pricing strategies, and manage reserves.
Develop and monitor operational KPIs, identify gaps, and implement process optimization initiatives.
Drive automation and digital transformation within the technical operations space to improve speed, accuracy, and customer experience.
Ensure full compliance with regulatory guidelines and internal risk management frameworks.
Liaise with regulators (e.g., NAICOM) and external auditors on matters related to technical operations.
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing technical team through coaching and performance management.
Provide strategic input to the executive team on business operations, risk exposures, and market trends.
Requirements
B.Sc./HND in Insurance, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
Professional certifications such as CIIN, ACIIN, or equivalent.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in technical operations within the life insurance industry, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
In-depth knowledge of life insurance underwriting, claims, policy administration, and reinsurance processes.
Strong understanding of insurance regulations and operational compliance standards.
Proven leadership and people management capabilities.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Proficiency in using insurance software systems and process automation tools.
