The Cleaning Supervisor is responsible for supervising and actively participating in the cleaning and maintenance of the facility.
This includes leading a team of cleaners, ensuring high standards of hygiene are maintained, handling day-to-day cleaning operations, and stepping in for absent staff when necessary.
The role also requires flexibility to support other departments, including cashier duties, when needed.
Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate daily cleaning activities across all designated areas.
Actively participate in hands-on cleaning tasks such as mopping, sweeping, dusting, disinfecting surfaces, and restroom sanitation.
Inspect work to ensure cleanliness standards and company procedures are followed.
Train and support cleaning staff on techniques, safety protocols, and equipment usage.
Assign and adjust cleaning schedules and tasks as needed.
Cover for cleaners when they are unavailable due to illness or other absences.
Monitor inventory levels and request restocking of cleaning supplies and materials.
Ensure proper handling and storage of chemicals and cleaning equipment.
Respond to complaints or concerns regarding cleanliness and resolve issues promptly.
Report any facility maintenance needs to management for repair or follow-up.
Assist with internal movement of equipment, furniture, or product deliveries.
May double as a cashier or provide support in front-line roles during peak hours or in the absence of cashiers.
May perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
Senior School Leaving Certificate required.
Minimum of 2 – 3 years of cleaning/janitorial experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory capacity.
Ability to work independently and lead a team effectively.
Professional appearance in line with the company’s dress policy.
