Job Description




  • The French Teacher is responsible for teaching students how to speak, write, and understand the French language. 

  • They create a positive and engaging learning environment that fosters the development of students' language skills, cultural understanding, and appreciation for French-speaking cultures. 

  • The teacher will tailor instruction to different proficiency levels and use a variety of instructional materials and methods.



Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum Delivery:




  • Plan, prepare, and deliver French language lessons in accordance with curriculum guidelines and student proficiency levels.

  • Use a variety of teaching strategies, including games, role play, multimedia, and real-life simulations.

  • Teach grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, conversation, reading comprehension, and writing.



Assessment & Progress Monitoring:




  • Design and administer tests, quizzes, oral exams, and other assessment tools to evaluate student progress.

  • Prepare the students for internal and external examinations

  • Maintain accurate records of students’ performance and provide regular feedback.

  • Adapt lessons based on student progress and individual learning needs.



Classroom Management:




  • Establish a respectful, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.

  • Manage student behavior effectively to ensure a conducive learning atmosphere.

  • Encourage student participation and foster a love for language learning.



Curriculum Development:




  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of the French curriculum.

  • Select and develop instructional materials and resources.

  • Integrate cultural components to provide a rich and immersive learning experience.



Communication & Collaboration:




  • Communicate regularly with parents, colleagues, and school administration regarding student progress and needs.

  • Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events.

  • Collaborate with other language or subject teachers on interdisciplinary projects.



Professional Development:




  • Stay updated on current teaching methodologies, French language developments, and educational technology.

  • Pursue continuing education opportunities and language immersion when possible.



Qualifications




  • Bachelor’s Degree in French, Education, or related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Teaching certification / licensure (as required by region).

  • Proficiency in French (native or near-native fluency).

  • Prior teaching experience is highly desirable.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
