Job Description
Job Purpose
- To carry out the installation, maintenance, and repair of all water and fluid distribution systems in the dairy farm. The plumber ensures a continuous water supply for livestock, cleaning systems, drinking stations, and supports other utilities like effluent and sprinkler systems under the guidance of the MEP Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Plumbing Work:
Install and maintain pipelines, valves, and fittings for:
- Animal drinking water lines
- Cow wash-down systems
- Milking parlor wash systems
- Effluent and wastewater lines
- Sprinkler and fogging systems for cooling
- Ensure proper slope, flow, and pressure for all pipelines.
Maintenance & Repair:
- Detect and repair leaks, clogged lines, or faulty valves.
- Replace damaged taps, pipes, joints, and nozzles as needed.
- Perform preventive checks on plumbing systems and water tanks.
Reporting & Record keeping:
- Maintain service records and report maintenance work to the MEP Supervisor.
- Alert the supervisor to recurring issues or the need for material procurement.
Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to all HSE guidelines while handling tools and equipment.
- Ensure sanitation and prevent cross-contamination in water systems.
- Maintain proper functioning of drainage and waste lines to avoid spills.
Qualifications & Skills Required
- Certificate or diploma in Plumbing, Mechanical Trades, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of plumbing experience, preferably in agricultural or industrial setups
- Ability to read plumbing diagrams and blueprints
- Skilled in using hand tools, pipe cutters, treaders, and water testing devices
