Job Overview
- We are seeking a passionate and experienced Physical and Health Education (P.H.E.) Teacher to join our academic team.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality physical education and health lessons to secondary school students.
- The role involves promoting physical fitness, health awareness, and overall well-being, while encouraging students to maintain an active lifestyle.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning:
- Teach Physical and Health Education to secondary school students in line with the school’s curriculum, ensuring alignment with both British and Nigerian educational standards.
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that include both physical activities and health education topics such as nutrition, personal hygiene, and mental health.
- Plan and conduct physical education classes, including individual and team sports, fitness training, and other recreational activities.
- Foster an understanding of the importance of physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle among students.
- Use a variety of teaching methods, including practical activities, discussions, and multimedia tools, to promote learning and engagement.
- Monitor and assess students’ progress in both physical performance and health knowledge, providing regular feedback and support.
Classroom and Activity Management:
- Create and maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom and activity environment.
- Supervise students during physical education classes, ensuring proper safety protocols are followed.
- Encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect for others in both classroom and sporting settings.
- Organize and oversee extracurricular sporting events and activities to promote physical health outside of regular lessons.
Student Support:
- Provide individual support to students to help them improve their physical abilities and health awareness.
- Promote a holistic approach to health that includes physical fitness, mental well-being, and social development.
- Address any challenges students may face in physical activities or health-related topics, offering encouragement and guidance to help them improve.
Assessment and Reporting:
- Design, administer, and evaluate assessments to gauge student progress in physical activities and health education.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, including fitness levels and health knowledge.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students, parents, and school leadership, focusing on areas of success and areas needing improvement.
Professional Development:
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and stay updated on best practices in physical education and health education.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share strategies, ideas, and best practices for improving the overall physical education program.
- Stay informed about changes in the British and Nigerian educational systems, as well as developments in physical education and health.

Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, Health Education, or a related field.
- A teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
- At least 2 years of teaching experience in Physical and Health Education, preferably in a secondary school.
- Strong knowledge of physical fitness, sports, and health education principles.
Skills and Experience:
- In-depth knowledge of physical education and health education, including the fundamentals of various sports, fitness routines, and health topics.
- Excellent classroom and activity management skills with the ability to create an inclusive and supportive environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage and motivate students.
- Experience in organizing and managing extracurricular sporting events and activities.
- Ability to assess students' physical progress and health awareness and provide constructive feedback
