Job Summary




  • We are offering four internship positions within the Analytical Department for Graduate Level Students and recent Graduates in Sub Sahara Africa.

  • This internship provides an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry, specifically in drug development using statistical and machine learning methods. 

  • Interns will work closely with Senior Level Quantitative Scientists to apply or develop advanced modeling methods, including:

    • Machine Learning (eg Deep Learning)

    • Survival Analysis

    • Causal Inference

    • Bayesian Statistics

    • Disease Progression Modeling

    • Pharmacokinetics/ Pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) Modeling.



  • Interns will also participate in seminars and knowledge sharing sessions and have opportunities to present their project outcomes to stakeholders and quantitative scientists at Novartis.



Key Responsibilities




  • Assist in the application/development of quantitative methods for drug development.

  • Collaborate with quantitative scientists on real world pharmaceutical data.

  • Conduct research using statistical programming tools such as SA or R.

  • Attend workshops and internal seminars on drug development processes.

  • Present findings to Novartis analytical teams and key stakeholders.



Requirements




  • Enrolled in or recently graduated (within 18 months) from an M.Sc, Ph.D, or exceptional senior undergraduate program in Bio statistics, Statistics, Pharmacometrics, Engineering or related discipline.

  • 0-1 year experience

  • Strong programming skills in SAS or R.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Motivated and eager to gain exposure to pharmaceutical analytic.
