Job Summary
- The Credit Officer leverage sound knowledge of credit risk management to review the credit program of the bank and develop credit product papers, define eligibility criteria, credit rules and algorithm, credit processes and policies aimed at building a profitable credit portfolio while effectively managing credit risks in line with the defined risk appetite
Job Details
- Ensure implementation of the credit risk management strategy approved by the Board and establish an effective credit risk management process in ARM MFB.
- Manage the credit operations process including loan origination, loan appraisal and approval, loan monitoring, loan repayment, collections and performance management.
- Conduct credit appraisal, evaluate customers’ creditworthiness, analyze risks and make recommendations for loan approval or rejections.
- Manages the manual review of loan applications, loan approval and disbursement process where applicable.
- Constantly monitor the bank’s credit portfolio performance, identify the accounts at risk of default and propose proactive actions to prevent default and minimize bad debt.
- Review terms of contract and service with client and make necessary inputs to ensure the Bank’s credit risks are effectively managed or mitigated.
- Compile daily, weekly, and monthly reports on the performance of the Bank’s loan portfolio, status of delinquent accounts, collection activity, and accounts receivable status.
- Present appropriate reports to the Executive Management, the Board of Directors and the regulators on the Bank’s loan portfolio.
- Ensure the implementation and enforcement of applicable laws, CBN and other regulations in the Bank’s loan process and management of the loan portfolio.
- Design appropriate loan/lending policies, processes and procedures for the effective management of the Bank’s loan book and obtain all required approvals for them.
- Coordinate all activities around CBN/NDIC regulatory review of the Bank’s loan portfolio.
- Provide oversight over all system and operational controls over the loan booking, processing, collection and management processes.
- Ensure availability of standards operating procedures (SOP) for the credit process, including keeping them up to date
- Manage loan recovery process, provide progress report on recovery and make recommendations for next steps, provisions and write-offs (where required).
- Provide leadership to his team members and ensure that they perform effectively and efficiently.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
Educational Requirements
- A good first degree in Economics / Finance / Business / related discipline.
Experience Requirements
- Proven work Credit competencies with minimum of 8-10 years’ experience including at least 6 years as a Credit officer or similar role at a Commercial Bank, Micro Finance Bank or Digital Lending Company.
- Hands-on experience building digital lending products, defining rules and policies and managing credit risks
