Job Description
Job Purpose
- The Mining Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining mining equipment to ensure efficient extraction and processing of minerals.
- The role requires adherence to safety protocols, equipment maintenance, and coordination with the mining team to optimize productivity.
Key Responsibilities
Mining Operations:
- Operate heavy mining equipment, including excavators, loaders, haul trucks, and drilling machines.
- Ensure efficient extraction and transportation of minerals from mining sites.
- Monitor equipment performance and report any operational issues.
Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to prevent accidents.
- Conduct routine safety checks on equipment before and after operations.
- Participate in safety training and emergency response drills.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of mining equipment.
- Report mechanical faults and coordinate repairs with the maintenance team.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of mining tools and accessories.
Operational Coordination:
- Work closely with geologists, engineers, and supervisors to optimize mining efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of mining activities, including production logs and equipment usage.
- Assist in site preparation and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: OND, HND, or B.Sc. in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in mining operations or heavy equipment handling.
- Certification: Trade Test
Skills & Competencies:
- Proficiency in operating mining machinery.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and mining regulations.
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform minor equipment repairs.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
