Job Summary
- The Turbines Field Operator is responsible for conducting routine inspections, monitoring local equipment, and performing field operations to ensure the safe and reliable operation of steam turbines and associated auxiliaries.
- This role plays a critical part in start-up, shutdown, and emergency handling, working in coordination with the DCS operator and Shift Engineer
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct regular field inspections of turbine, condenser, pumps, and lube oil systems.
- Monitor vibration, temperature, pressure, and flow using local gauges.
- Report abnormalities (leaks, noise, overheating) to the Shift Engineer.
- Assist in turbine start-up and shutdown procedures.
- Support DCS operator in synchronizing and load changes.
- Check condition of auxiliary systems (seal oil, vacuum pumps, GSCs).
- Participate in routine equipment checks and log observations.
- Ensure field safety compliance and use of PPE.
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping of turbine floor area.
- Provide help in emergency shutdown and plant isolation activities
Educational Qualification and Work Experience
- Diploma or HND Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Certification is an added advantage. (Turbine Field Operator Certificate preferred).
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience in turbine field operations in a cogeneration or thermal plant.
