Job Summary
- The Steam Turbines Mechanical Technician is responsible for conducting mechanical maintenance, repair, and inspection of steam turbines and associated auxiliary systems.
- The role ensures operational reliability and efficiency by executing routine and preventive maintenance activities in accordance with OEM guidelines and safety standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on turbines, gearboxes, and auxiliaries.
- Inspect and maintain lubrication systems, seal oil systems, and barring gear.
- Support turbine alignment, balancing, and vibration checks.
- Disassemble, clean, and reassemble turbine components during overhauls.
- Replace seals, bearings, and worn mechanical parts.
- Assist in turbine startup and shutdown procedures.
- Coordinate with operations and DCS during equipment handover and restoration.
- Maintain accurate records of work done, parts used, and defects found.
- Follow LOTO, permit, and safety protocols during maintenance
- Maintain tools, spares, and workshop cleanliness
Educational Qualification and Work Experience
- ND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Certification is an added advantage. (Certification in Steam Turbine Maintenance preferred)
- Minimum 5–10 years in mechanical maintenance of steam turbines in cogeneration or thermal plants
