Job Summary
- The Powerhouse Shift Supervisor is responsible for supervising the field operations of the electrical systems in the powerhouse during their assigned shift.
- This includes ensuring proper functioning of switchgear, transformers, power distribution systems, and responding to any electrical abnormalities.
- The role bridges the communication between control room and field operations and ensures safety compliance, accurate reporting, and disciplined execution of tasks.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all field activities related to electrical systems during shift.
- Monitor operation of switchboards, circuit breakers, and power panels.
- Conduct field inspections of transformers, MCCs, and distribution boards.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety procedures and PPE usage.
- Respond to electrical issues, alarms, and provide initial troubleshooting support.
- Ensure backup systems (DGs/UPS) are checked and ready.
- Report operational status and incidents to Shift Engineer and log activities.
- Supervise and support switchboard operators and helpers.
- Ensure cleanliness, order, and maintenance readiness of electrical rooms.
- Participate in shift handovers and maintain communication with control room.
Educational Qualification and Work Experience
- Diploma or HND Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Certification is an added advantage. (Electrical Competency Certificate preferred).
- 10–15 years in electrical field operations in a power plant, with 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
