- A Manual Peeling Operative in a cashew company is responsible for the manual removal of the outer shell (testa) from cashew kernels using a combination of gentle rubbing and specialized tools.
- They ensure the kernels are cleaned and graded according to size, shape, and color, impacting the final quality of the product.
Key Responsibilities
- Manual Peeling: Gently rub cashew kernels to remove the testa, using fingers or a small knife.
- Kernel Selection: Identify and separate kernels based on size, shape, color, and count to meet grading standards.
- Quality Control: Ensure kernels are free from debris and damage, maintaining product quality.
- Hygienic Practices: Maintain a clean work environment and adhere to sanitation guidelines to prevent contamination.
- Efficiency: Work at a consistent pace to meet production goals, typically peeling around 10-12 kg of kernels per day.
