Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Carpenter with experience in agricultural construction, specifically in the design and assembly of farm greenhouses. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reading blueprints, measuring materials, and constructing functional and durable greenhouse structures using wood, metal, and polycarbonate or polyethylene coverings. This role requires precision, physical strength, and knowledge of weatherproofing and ventilation systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Construct and assemble greenhouse frames using wood, metal, or PVC materials.
- Install roofing, sidewalls, doors, and ventilation systems.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Ensure structures meet building codes, safety standards, and climate-control requirements.
- Cut, shape, and join materials using hand and power tools.
- Work with irrigation and heating specialists to integrate systems into structures.
- Assess project sites and provide accurate material and time estimates.
- Repair and maintain existing greenhouse structures.
- Collaborate with farm managers or engineers during design and construction phases.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a carpenter; greenhouse or agricultural construction experience preferred.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of structural integrity, insulation, and waterproofing.
- Experience with greenhouse materials like polycarbonate panels, greenhouse film, and framing materials.
- Skilled in using a variety of construction tools and equipment.
- Good physical condition, capable of lifting heavy materials and working in outdoor environments.
- Knowledge of local building codes and safety regulations.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with automated greenhouse systems (ventilation, shading, irrigation).
- Ability to manage construction timelines and lead small crews.
Work Environment:
- Primarily outdoor work on farms or agricultural properties.
- May require travel to various job sites.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions.
