As the Business Operations Manager, you will Drive revenue growth and market expansion by developing strategic business plans, optimizing operations, and ensuring seamless logistics execution. Lead cross-functional teams, enhance tech solutions, and build key partnerships. Oversee performance management, foster a strong company culture, and maintain investor and stakeholder relations. You are ready to roll up your sleeves, build a passionate team, and build a business at light speed while tackling the large Nigerian parcel shipping market. You will make sure that our amazing services are available and perfectly executed to our customers conveniently and seamlessly.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Revenue Growth:
- Develop and implement short- and long-term business strategies that drive revenue growth and market expansion.
- Align team goals with company objectives, ensuring all departments contribute to financial success.
- Grow and monitor key business performance indicators (such as B2B, B2C, B2B2C, GMV, Users, Riders, AOV, RR) and adjust strategies to meet revenue targets.
- Drive effective business development engagements with partners and coordinate teams to deliver partnership commitments.
Operational Management
- Oversee all company operations, ensuring seamless fulfillment of orders and high service delivery standards.
- Establish efficient processes to optimize logistics, fleet management, and customer service.
- Coordinate between different departments (Fleet Operations, Sales, Customer Fulfillment, Tech, Marketing) to ensure smooth execution.
- Address operational bottlenecks and implement process improvements.
- Ensure a 100% fulfillment rate, ensuring rider effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
- Effectively manage budgets and resource allocation to achieve business goals.
People & Performance Management
- Build and lead a high-performing team from scratch, recruiting, training, and managing.
- Lead recruitment, training, and development of staff, ensuring a high-performance culture.
- Effectively assign tasks and responsibilities to team members based on their skills and experience.
- Monitor team performance, provide constructive feedback, and address performance issues.
- Offer guidance, mentorship, and support to team members to help them succeed.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide mentorship to department leads.
- Establish and maintain a strong company culture that fosters accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
- Ensure that the team complies with company policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Address and resolve conflicts or any issues that arise within the team.
- Effectively communicate with team members, stakeholders, and management.
Tech Product Development & Improvement
- Work closely with the tech team to enhance the RUN platform, ensuring a seamless customer and rider experience.
- Oversee the development and deployment of new product features to maintain competitiveness.
- Ensure data-driven decision-making for product enhancements and business strategy.
Stakeholder & Investor Relations
- Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including major logistics partners and corporate clients.
- Provide regular business updates and financial reports to the CEO.
Qualifications
- Proven experience (6+ years) in Business Operations role, with at least 4 years experience in a leadership or managerial role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
- BA / BSc qualification in Social Sciences, Operations or equivalent practical experience. (Master’s degree is an added advantage).
Requirements and Skills:
- Experience in logistics, e-commerce or FMCG space.
- Experience working in a startup or fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of excel / google sheets and ease with a variety of tech platforms and reporting.
- Ability to effectively manage employees
- Natural leader with the ability to motivate and lead a team, even indirect reports
- Ability to take initiative and be flexible in a constantly-changing work environment
