Department: Mental Health Services

Reports To: Medical Director / Head of Clinical Services



Role Overview:



We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Mental Health Services team. This role involves providing high-quality psychiatric care to patients across various age groups and backgrounds. The ideal candidate will lead in diagnosis, treatment, and management of mental health conditions, while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic, evidence-based care.



Key Responsibilities:




  • Perform detailed psychiatric evaluations and develop personalized treatment plans.

  • Diagnose and manage mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, psychosis, bipolar disorder, and substance use disorders.

  • Provide psychotherapy and prescribe psychotropic medications as appropriate.

  • Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide crisis intervention.

  • Document patient care accurately in accordance with hospital protocols and ethical standards.

  • Supervise junior medical staff, residents, and interns where applicable.

  • Participate in regular case discussions, clinical audits, and research activities.

  • Contribute to mental health advocacy, awareness campaigns, and community outreach.

  • Engage in continuing professional development and clinical training programs.



Qualifications and Requirements:




  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.

  • Fellowship in Psychiatry (e.g., FWACP, FMCPsych, or equivalent).

  • Full registration and current license with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of post-fellowship clinical experience in psychiatry.

  • Demonstrated expertise in diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and team collaboration skills.

  • Uphold ethical and patient-centered clinical practice.



Preferred Qualifications:




  • Experience in a private hospital or multidisciplinary healthcare setting.

  • Sub-specialization in areas such as child & adolescent psychiatry, addiction medicine, or forensic psychiatry.

  • Familiarity with EMR systems.

  • Training in psychotherapy, CBT, or other psychological modalities.
