Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Credit Manager with a strong background in Risk Management to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in overseeing the credit and lending process, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and mitigating risks associated with mortgage lending operations. With a focus on strategic planning and operational excellence, the Credit Manager will enhance the bank's credit portfolio while maintaining a strong risk control framework.
Credit Risk Management
- Assess, monitor, and manage credit risks across the mortgage portfolio to ensure alignment with the bank's risk tolerance.
- Develop and implement credit risk policies and procedures tailored to mortgage banking operations.
- Perform in-depth credit analysis for loan applications, ensuring thorough evaluation of borrowers' financial standing, creditworthiness, and collateral adequacy.
Credit Approval Process
- Oversee the end-to-end credit approval process, including the evaluation and recommendation of mortgage loan applications.
- Establish credit limits for clients in alignment with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
Portfolio Management
- Regularly review and analyze the bank's mortgage loan portfolio to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure timely reporting of credit portfolio performance and risk exposure to senior management.
Compliance and Regulatory Oversight
- Ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements, including mortgage lending laws and guidelines.
- Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies to address any credit-related concerns.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Lead a team of credit officers, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluation.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Risk, Legal, and Operations teams, to optimize credit processes and maintain high standards of service delivery.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. A Masters degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, FRM, or PRM) is an added advantage.
- 10–15 years of proven experience in credit management and risk management, with a focus on mortgage banking or related financial services.
- Strong understanding of mortgage lending processes, housing finance, and regulatory frameworks governing the mortgage banking industry.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, credit analysis tools, and risk assessment software.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
