Responsibilities
Loading and Setting:
- Operators are responsible for properly loading the cashew nuts into the color sorter's feed hopper.
- They also need to set and adjust the machine's parameters, such as sorting speed, air pressure, and sensitivity levels, to achieve the desired sorting results.
Monitoring and Adjusting:
- During the sorting process, operators must closely monitor the machine's performance, watching for any issues or inconsistencies in the sorting process.
- They may need to adjust the machine's settings or make minor adjustments to ensure the correct separation of nuts and defects.
Removing Sorted Products:
- Once the sorting is complete, operators are responsible for collecting the sorted cashew nuts and removing the rejected defects or impurities.
- This may involve manually sorting any remaining nuts or defects that the machine has not separated.
Maintenance and Cleaning:
- Operators are also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the color sorter and ensuring that it is functioning properly.
- This may include regular cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs or adjustments.
Quality Control:
- Operators play a crucial role in ensuring the overall quality of the cashew nuts by accurately identifying and removing any defective or unwanted materials.
Safety:
- Operators need to follow all safety procedures when operating the color sorter, including proper handling of materials and equipment.
Training:
- Operators may also be responsible for training new employees or assisting other staff with the operation of the machine.
Requirements / Skills
- Degree in Management or relevant field
- 3-7 years experience in a Food / Manufacturing plants
- Previous experience in Cashew processing industries is an added advantage
- Knowledge of business practices
- The ability to foster teamwork
- Experience with coaching or training
- Strong oral and written skills
- The ability to work well with others
- Strong leadership skills that include being a self-starter
- Proven experience as a Supervisor or coordinator
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Strong time management and organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks and make decisions under pressure.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and knowledge of safety procedures and regulations.
- Report writing skills, Quality Management system and documentation
- Previous machine operating experience in a manufacturing facility, or similar relevant experience
- Must be detail-oriented
- Understanding of production and plant processes
- Analytical and numerical skills: ability to perform mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in different units of measurement
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to work in a team
- Willingness to work in shifts (late or early hours, weekends, and overtime if necessary).
