The Cashier is responsible for managing all customer transactions at the point of sale in an accurate, efficient, and friendly manner.
This role plays a key part in delivering a positive shopping experience, ensuring proper handling of payments, and maintaining financial accuracy in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
Process sales transactions quickly and accurately using the POS system.
Handle cash, credit/debit cards, mobile payments, and refunds in line with company policies.
Issue receipts, gift cards, and invoices to customers as required.
Ensure the cash register is balanced at the beginning and end of each shift.
Assist customers with basic product inquiries or direct them to sales staff when needed.
Maintain a clean, organised, and professional checkout area.
Collaborate with the sales and inventory teams to ensure smooth daily operations.
Report discrepancies, suspicious transactions, or system issues to management promptly.
Follow all security, financial, and customer service procedures.
Support stocktaking, packaging, and occasional floor assistance when required.
Requirements
Minimum of SSCE / OND qualification; additional training in retail or finance is a plus
At least 1 year previous experience as a cashier or in a customer-facing role preferred
Familiarity with gadgets, electronics, or phone accessories is an advantage
