Job Summary
- The Production Supervisor oversees the manufacturing process of electrical control panels, ensuring efficient production, quality control, and adherence to safety standards. This role involves supervising production staff, coordinating workflow, optimizing processes, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality electrical panels to meet customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Production Management:
- Plan, organize, and supervise daily production activities in the electrical panel assembly area.
- Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Monitor workflow and adjust resources as needed to meet deadlines.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all electrical panels are built according to engineering drawings, industry standards (UL, IEC, NEC), and customer requirements.
- Conduct inspections and implement corrective actions for defects or non-conformities.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise, train, and motivate production staff (assemblers, wiremen, technicians).
- Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide feedback to improve productivity.
Process Improvement:
- Identify bottlenecks and implement efficiency improvements in assembly, wiring, and testing processes.
- Collaborate with engineering and procurement teams to optimize material usage and reduce waste.
Safety & Compliance:
- Enforce workplace safety policies (OSHA, NFPA 70E) and ensure proper use of PPE.
- Maintain compliance with electrical codes and company quality management systems (ISO 9001).
Inventory & Equipment:
- Oversee material availability and coordinate with the supply chain to prevent shortages.
- Ensure proper maintenance of tools, machinery, and testing equipment.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintain production records, quality reports, and compliance documentation.
- Report on key metrics (output, defects, downtime) to senior management.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field (preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in electrical panel manufacturing or industrial production, with 1+ years in a supervisory role.
- Knowledge of electrical components, wiring diagrams, and control systems (PLC panels, switchgear, etc.).
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, panel layouts, and CAD drawings.
- Familiarity with testing equipment (multimeters, meggers, Hi-Pot testers).
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or Six Sigma (a plus).
Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Certifications (Preferred):
- OSHA Safety Certification
- Certified Production Technician (CPT)
- Six Sigma Green Belt
