Responsibilities

Audit Engagement Management:




  • Plan, supervise, and execute audit assignments in compliance with International Standards on Auditing (ISA) and firm guidelines.

  • Coordinate with clients to understand business processes, assess risk areas, and develop audit strategies.



Team Supervision & Development:




  • Lead and mentor junior auditors and audit seniors, providing on-the-job training and performance feedback.

  • Review work papers and ensure audit documentation meets professional and internal standards.



Client Relationship Management:




  • Serve as a point of contact for client communication during audit engagements.

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.



Financial Reporting & Compliance:




  • Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with applicable reporting frameworks such as IFRS and relevant regulatory standards.

  • Identify and communicate accounting and auditing issues to clients and internal management.



Risk & Quality Assurance:




  • Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate audit procedures to address audit risks.

  • Ensure compliance with internal quality control procedures and ethical standards.



Reporting:




  • Prepare comprehensive audit reports and present key findings and recommendations to senior management or partners.

  • Ensure timely completion of audit assignments and submission of deliverables.



Requirements




  • Qualification: HND / BSc in Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.

  • 5 years and above of relevant work experience in external audit, preferably in a professional services or audit firm.

  • At least 2 - 3 years in a supervisory or senior audit role, with experience managing audit teams and client portfolios.

  • Experience working with clients across various industries (e.g., manufacturing, financial services, NGOs, oil & gas, etc.).

  • Proven track record in planning, executing, and finalizing audit engagements independently

  • Exposure to ICAN/IFRS-compliant audit processes, including preparation of financial statements.

  • A Chartered Accountant (ACA) and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) is an added advantage.

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, Nigerian tax laws, auditing standards (ISA), and financial reporting requirements.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to details

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience handling client relationships.

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines effectively.

  • Ability to identify audit issues and offer practical, value-adding recommendation

  • Excellent leadership, supervisory, and mentoring skills.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple engagements and work under pressure.

  • High level of professional integrity, ethics, and sound judgment.
