Job Description
Duties / Responsibilities
- Works with clients to determine initial goals and requirements for the space to be designed.
- Analyzes movement and use patterns of the space.
- Creating initial design sketches, color themes and ideas based on client requirements and space availability
- Produce sample boards and mood boards to demonstrate preliminary designs to client.
- Consults with client to select materials, furnishings, and décor pieces.
- Uses design applications to prepare and illustrate final plans.
- Use of necessary materials, adhering to project and budget specifications.
- Oversees the installation of materials, furniture, and other design elements.
- Maintains current knowledge of trends and materials, techniques, and other developments in interior design.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Inspect design after completion to determine whether client goals have been met.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or related field required; coursework in computer-aided design (CAD) highly preferred.
- Interior design certification highly preferred.
- At least two years of related experience required.
- Must be able to distinguish between colors.
- A passion for business and closing of sales.
Required Skills / Abilities:
- Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to apply a sense of style to create aesthetically pleasing interiors.
- Strong visual design skills, including proportion and aesthetics
- Excellent communication skills, especially in regard to communicating an artistic vision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to use computer-aided design (CAD) software such as Revit, Sketchup or 3dsmax.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
