Duties / Responsibilities

• Works with clients to determine initial goals and requirements for the space to be designed.


• Analyzes movement and use patterns of the space.


• Creating initial design sketches, color themes and ideas based on client requirements and space availability


• Produce sample boards and mood boards to demonstrate preliminary designs to client.


• Consults with client to select materials, furnishings, and décor pieces.


• Uses design applications to prepare and illustrate final plans.


• Use of necessary materials, adhering to project and budget specifications.


• Oversees the installation of materials, furniture, and other design elements.


• Maintains current knowledge of trends and materials, techniques, and other developments in interior design.


• Performs other related duties as assigned.


• Inspect design after completion to determine whether client goals have been met.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or related field required; coursework in computer-aided design (CAD) highly preferred.


• Interior design certification highly preferred.


• At least two years of related experience required.


• Must be able to distinguish between colors.


• A passion for business and closing of sales.

Required Skills / Abilities:

• Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.


• Ability to apply a sense of style to create aesthetically pleasing interiors.


• Strong visual design skills, including proportion and aesthetics


• Excellent communication skills, especially in regard to communicating an artistic vision.


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


• Ability to use computer-aided design (CAD) software such as Revit, Sketchup or 3dsmax.


• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
