Job Description
The Business Banking Officer will be responsible for sourcing, acquiring, and managing business and corporate banking relationships. The ideal candidate will facilitate lending opportunities and provide tailored financial solutions to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and corporate clients. This role is vital in supporting the bank’s business development strategy and achieving commercial banking targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Acquisition: Source and onboard new SME and corporate clients through direct marketing, referrals, and strategic partnerships.
- Credit & Loan Facilitation: Identify lending opportunities and support clients through the credit application process while ensuring compliance with internal risk frameworks.
- Relationship Management: Maintain and grow long-term relationships with business clients by understanding their operational and financial needs.
- Needs-Based Selling: Recommend appropriate financial products such as loans, treasury services, and investment options based on client needs.
- Portfolio Management: Monitor the performance of assigned business accounts, track transaction patterns, and ensure optimal account utilization.
- Market Development: Conduct regular market visits to identify new business opportunities and deepen existing client relationships.
- Financial Advisory: Provide strategic financial guidance to clients, helping them manage cash flow, finance expansion, or restructure existing debt.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all client onboarding and transaction documentation meets internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Performance Management: Achieve and surpass individual and branch targets for portfolio growth, revenue generation, and client retention.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- BSc/HND in Banking & Finance, Business Administration, Marketing, or any other related course.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in business or corporate banking roles.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze financial statements.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- High level of initiative, drive, and goal orientation.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Computer proficiency and strong data analysis ability.
- Attention to detail and understanding of regulatory compliance.
- Confident, assertive, and solution driven.
