Job Summary
- The Immigration and HR Consultant will provide expert support in managing immigration regulatory compliance and delivering HR advisory services to clients, particularly multinational and expatriate-employing firms.
- This includes processing expatriate work and residence permits, advising on immigration and employment regulations, managing employee documentation, and supporting clients with HR structuring, policy development, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Immigration Support:
- Advise clients on immigration requirements, timelines, and documentation for business permits, expatriate quotas (EQ), STR, TWP, and CERPAC applications.
- Manage immigration application processes and interface with regulatory authorities (e.g., Ministry of Interior, Nigerian Immigration Service, NOTAP, embassies).
- Ensure timely renewals of permits, monitor document expiries, and maintain compliance trackers.
- Assist clients with work visa and business travel arrangements for expatriate employees.
- Provide compliance guidance on expatriate onboarding and disengagement procedures.
HR Advisory:
- Support clients with HR structuring, job role development, and compensation planning.
- Draft and review employment contracts, HR manuals, and staff policies in line with Nigerian labour laws.
- Provide advisory on employee relations, disciplinary procedures, and statutory obligations (e.g., NSITF, NHF, ITF, PENCOM).
- Assist clients with HR audits, employee recordkeeping, and payroll-related compliance.
- Stay updated on changes in labour laws and immigration regulations, and advise clients accordingly.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and secure records of all immigration and HR-related documentation.
- Prepare reports for internal management and client presentations.
- Ensure strict confidentiality and ethical handling of client and employee information.
Requirements
- B.Sc. or HND in Law, Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Public Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Nigerian immigration processing and HR consulting.
- Strong understanding of Nigerian labour law and expatriate employment regulations.
- Proven experience dealing with the Ministry of Interior, NIS, NOTAP, and other related agencies.
- Excellent organizational and client service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management tools.
Desirable:
- Certification in Human Resources (e.g., CIPM, SHRM) is an advantage.
- Experience working with multinational clients or professional services firms.
- Knowledge of HR software or payroll systems.
