Carry out and supervise design activities for Offshore Structures, Hulls, Risers & Moorings (OHRM) using Shell-approved software tools such as SACS, ANSYS, and Orcaflex.
Conduct structural support sizing, modifications, and verification using finite element analysis (FEA).
Prepare and review engineering deliverables including design reports, drawings, and installation procedures in compliance with API, DNV, ISO, and Shell standards.
Coordinate foundation and geotechnical design for subsea equipment, riser systems, and bottom-founded structures.
Interface with naval architecture scope for weight estimation and management.
Participate in multi-disciplinary Detailed Engineering Design reviews, supporting procurement, fabrication, and installation phases.
Provide input on metocean design criteria and analyze relevant environmental data.
Collaborate with QA/QC, HSE, Lifting SMEs, and Planning functions to ensure safe and aligned engineering outcomes.
Review and endorse contractor procedures including lifting plans, installation analysis, and construction method statements.
Ensure HSSE compliance in all structural engineering activities and champion Goal Zero safety culture.
Engage proactively with installation and fabrication teams to resolve technical issues and drive structural quality.
Document and share Lessons Learned throughout the detailed design and fabrication stages.
Author daily, weekly, and monthly progress and site reports for internal and external stakeholders.
MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 15 years of relevant work experience, with at least 10 years in offshore oil and gas structural engineering roles.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent.
COREN Registered Engineer (Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria).
In-depth experience in FPSO and Deepwater engineering design and construction.
Proficient in FEA tools: SACS, ANSYS, Abaqus, Orcaflex.
Familiarity with international and local codes: API, AISC, AWS,
ISO, DNV, BS, EU regulations.
Experience in structural reassessment using inspection data and integrity assessment.
Strong understanding of geotechnical, foundation, and subsea structural design.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and relevant design documentation software.
Experienced in interfacing with Lloyd’s Register and regulatory bodies.
Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
Deep understanding of HSSE practices in the oil and gas industry and commitment to Goal Zero.
Strategic thinker and pragmatic problem solver with strong team collaboration abilities.
Previous involvement in projects involving floating systems, heavy offshore lifting, and mooring design is highly desirable.
