Position Summary:




  • A dynamic Polymedic post 16 school is seeking a dynamic and experienced academic leader to serve as Head of Academics.

  • This role is central to upholding academic excellence and innovation across our diploma and certificate programs in Health and Social Care, Special Needs and Adult Care, and Digital Health Leadership.

  • The ideal candidate will combine subject-matter expertise with a passion for transformative education, particularly within the healthcare and social service sectors.



Key Responsibilities:



Academic Leadership & Management:




  • Provide strategic leadership in the planning, development, and implementation of all academic programs.

  • Ensure academic quality, relevance, and compliance with national and international standards.

  • Oversee curriculum design, review, and instructional materials development.

  • Supervise program coordinators and teaching staff to maintain high educational standards.



Faculty Development & Supervision:




  • Recruit, mentor, and support teaching staff in effective instructional strategies.

  • Lead professional development initiatives for faculty.

  • Foster a collaborative and performance-driven academic environment.



Student Learning & Outcomes:




  • Monitor student performance and outcomes across programs.

  • Ensure timely academic support, guidance, and feedback for students.

  • Promote inclusive and student-centered learning approaches.



Assessment & Quality Assurance:




  • Design and oversee academic assessments, grading policies, and internal moderation.

  • Implement quality assurance frameworks and continuous improvement practices.

  • Lead accreditation and compliance efforts with relevant education bodies.



Innovation & Strategic Growth:




  • Collaborate with industry experts to integrate real-world practices into learning.

  • Contribute to the development of new academic programs and partnerships.

  • Support research, seminars, and conferences aligned with the school’s vision.



Required Qualifications and Experience:




  • Master’s degree (or higher) in Health, Social Sciences, Education, or a related discipline.

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in academic administration or leadership.

  • Preferably with teaching experience at post-secondary or vocational training level.

  • Strong knowledge of competency-based education and modern pedagogy.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and inspire academic teams.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.



Desirable Attributes:




  • Doctorate in a relevant field (an advantage, not mandatory).

  • Experience with curriculum design and accreditation processes.

  • Familiarity with healthcare and vocational education sectors in Africa or the UK.

  • Passionate about student success and ethical leadership.
